Our client had been searching for a contractor who could assist with the replacement of a shattered glazed unit to their 14th floor penthouse property. Due to the complexities around the glazing location and installation, the client was struggling to find a partner company to undertake the replacement works.
A pre-lim survey highlighted further complications with the replacement as elements of the retention were hidden behind floor slab details.
After much consideration and consultation with our supply chain, it was decided the safest and most practical option for replacement of the fractured glazing would be via the erection of a fixed scaffold structure. This was erected by our scaffold partners for the project - APA Height Access The scaffold platform was designed to tie into the building and also incorportate a lifting rig at the top to allow the controlled removal and replacement of the glazing.
Given the complexity of locaiton, the Project team had to monitor the weather to choose a date with ideal lifting condition prior to attending. The replacement was successfully undertaken over the course of a day to allow the client to finally have their original view back after two years of seaching for assistance. The project was completed by the removal of the fixed scaffold structure over the course of a week.
