Our client at this Bank Headquarters required the replacement of a ground floor curtain walling double glazed unit. The weight of the glass was found to be over 500KG which meant that traditional methods of replacement would not be possible. The size of the unit was approximately 3m x 3m which meant that the unit would require specialist transportation due to its oversized nature.
Working with our logistics partner and the site management company, we put together a logistics plan detailing our proposed transport method and delivery point. This was to ensure we did not exceed any loading restrictions with our delivery vehicle.
Given the weight of the unit, our projects team decided that the safest method of installation would be to utilise a Winlett glazing robot. This eliminated the requirement for manual handling of the oversized glass whilst allowing our team the ability to carefully manoeuvre the glass in and out.
Conducting works out of hours on a weekend to minimise disruption to the client, our team successfully completed the replacement and removed the existing unit for off-site disposal.
