The Sky Access Glazing team were approached to assist with a rooflight refurbishment to this commercial office premises in Oxfordshire. The rooflight was positioned above the main communal office space and suffered a number of issues such as failed glazed units and ongoing ingress issues.
The site unfortunately had no O+M information detailing the system installed or existing glass specification meaning careful research was required to put together a compatible refurbishment package.
After a competitive tender process assessing both cost and performance, Sky Access were instructed to undertake the refurbishment works.
The first stage of the project required our Project team to identify the existing system to ensure compatibility between new and existing parts. After assessing profiles on site, we were able to identify the existing iinstallation was constructed using Smart Aluminium profiles. This allowed us to work with the Smart Technical Team to identify compatible components for the refurbishment to give the client piece of mind.
Due to the size of the structure and requirement for continual use of the communal space beneath, we worked with the client to design an internal crash deck structure. This ensured the safety of both our operatives and the building occupants throughout.
Our scope of works involved the replacement of all 76no DGU's with new incorporating improved solar control properties alongside the replacement of existing system pressure plates and gasketry. On completion of works, the rooflight was subject to an extended period of water testing to confirm the integrity of works.
