Our client had a variety of overhead glazing structures throughout their busy Shopping Centre site which were showing signs of age related dilapidation. Sky Access were contacted to put together a comprehensive refurbishment package for the site working to the pre-supplied tender documents.
A number of the atrium structures on site were suffering from issues with water ingress posing a potential health and safety hazards to the busy footfall locations below. Access to the structures was identified as a potential problem due to their location and the position of the existing gantry systems.
Our Project team put together a comprehensive program of works to include for the refurbishment of all the overhead glazing on site. Prior to works commencing, we conducted intrusive surveys to confirm our scope of works and identify any additional items required such as glass replacements.
Our works included for multiple glass replacements, a full seal service to the overhead glazing, replacement of atrium pressure plate gaskets and the introduction of a butyl glazing tape. All of these items contributed towards solving the water ingress issues and providing a long term solution.
Safe access for works was achieved using a combination of the existing certified gantry access and rope access techniques using our in-house Technicians.
On completion of works, we issued long term guarantees against water ingress for the structure alongside an ongoing maintenance package.
