Our client had a number of cracked glazed units to the Hotel which required a replacement solution. The project had a number of complexities such as access restraints and the proximity to an airside environment - areas Sky Access have vast experience in.
Due to limited O+M information, our Procurement Team were able to track down old glass specification information from the original installer - records going back to the early 2000's! With the glass specification and associated tints confirmed, we were able to procure the replacement laminate units with each weighing over 200KG.
Our experience of working in the airside environment meant we had a good understanding of the requirements. This involved applying for a variety of permits and adapting our safe system of work to ensure all requirements were met for all project stakeholders. Given the proximity to public parking, we worked closely with the client and adjacent land owners to schedule works.
To undertake the replacements, we utilsied a combination of a truck mount platform and small spider crane. This set-up meant we were able to set-up on the Service Road ramp to undertake particularly tricky high level glass replacements to the corner of the building.
Works were completed as scheduled with minimal disruption to the client and to the satisfaction of the involved parties.
